Passive air quality improvement through solar energy
Litoclean launches a new service for the removal of pollutants by photocatalytic processes
Driven by its constant interest in finding innovative and environmentally friendly solutions, Litoclean offers a new photocatalysis service to improve the air quality in industrial environments.
What does photocatalysis mean?
Photocatalysis is the acceleration of a chemical reaction involving the absorption of light in the presence of a catalyst.
What is the new service about?
In the solution offered, a special product is applied to the surfaces of industrial installations exposed to sunlight.
The titanium oxide included in the formulation of this product acts as a catalyst for the oxidation reaction that removes the airborne pollutants. UVA rays activate the catalyst.
In this way, volatile organic compounds, nitrogen oxides, sulphur oxides and other pollutants present in industrial sites can be removed using a clean and renewable source of energy, without obtaining hazardous degradation products.
Proven effectiveness
The effectiveness of the new service was evaluated under thorough tests carried out in cooperation with a prestigious German institute, which yielded decisive results.
Further advantages
In the process of passive air quality improvement, in addition to minimising potential occupational health risks from exposure to chemical pollutants, any bacterial, fungal and germ load that could generate unpleasant odours is simultaneously reduced.
Moreover, by using a renewable energy source, this solution is a carbon footprint friendly option, which is ideal for companies committed to sustainable actions.
