Phy2Climate achieves great progress in this second year
The companies and entities whose participate in the project, included Litoclean, celebrate their annual meeting in Germany
The consortium meeting 2023 of the international Phy2Climate project was held on June 26, 27 and 28 in order to evaluate the progress of the project during the second year of its life. This project aims to evaluate the feasibility of phytoremediation projects for the generation of biofuel and its subsequent commercialization.
The project is approached in a holistic manner. That is, not only from the soil remediation technique itself from plant activity and biomass generation (WP2) and the subsequent generation of biofuel (WP3), but it also addresses the assessment of the impact of the project from a sustainability point of view (WP4) and has an associated business plan to assess its viability (WP5). Finally, WP6 addresses the legal requirements for a potential full-scale implementation of the project, while WP7 enhances the corresponding dissemination work.
LITOCLEAN participated in WP2 of the project, in one of the four selected sites, implementing phytoremediation works in a site affected by hydrocarbons.
The progress of the project has been overwhelming. While the contaminated sites are achieving a reduction of the impact and biomass generation, the biorefineries of the WP3 facilities are managing to generate the biofuel that closes the circle of the project. On the other hand, the rest of the WPs continue to progress adequately in terms of sustainability, project viability, legal-administrative, as well as dissemination.
Great results are expected of the project in this third year to come.
